1) Every coupon will have an expiration date, therefore, ensure to check if it has one and if not then better to ignore. Note that generally, the coupons will expire sooner, it won't have very long expiry dates. Hence, if you see a coupon that is valid for a couple of years then consider it as a fake.

2) Check the source from where it is sent. If you get it directly from a company, please visit the company website and check for the authenticity of the offers. Look up for reviews and complaints related to that specific websites. If you are getting the promo codes via email, then mouse hover the link in the email, the real link would appear on the bottom left of the email screen and if the destination URL is skewed, then avoid clicking on it.

3) Check for poor grammar and spellings. Typos and very bad grammar in the promotions are better to take a note, as a good promo will not have this incorrect information.

4) If a promo coupon says it free then you need to take a closer look at it as generally promos are not for offering free, instead, offer you at a discounted price.

5) Use your common sense, Yes friends! if a promo says you can buy anything at 75% off by clicking on a link, it is surely something you need to think of as from a business point of you, no company would provide you that deep discount for your entry as a new customer or for liking/ sharing a brand profile or product link.

So obviously a reason to think!. To better understand, visit the company website or call their customer support team and check regarding the offers you saw and be smart enough to know about them before proceeding with the promo link.

6) Finally, if you see a promo requesting to respond quickly as a matter of urgency then don't fall for it as generally the scammers would appeal you to take action without allowing you to think twice!

So friends, be alert when you are using your emails or social media accounts and pay attention to the types of links and clicks you make in order to safeguard your personal data!
