Avalabetta - unfamous trekking point around Bangalore

Avalabetta is a place located in Chikkaballapur district, that is around 100 kilometres away from Bangalore(JP Nagar) is another trekking destination for all enthusiasts, near the famous the Nandi hills.  Our journey started at around 12 pm on this Sunday noon and reached the destination at around 2.30 pm, we had stopped in a couple of places for the short break and that added some more minutes on road. Actually, it's about 2-hour travel from Bangalore to reach the destination.

As we travelled on NH7 and reached Peresandra, drove in a bumpy road for about 5 to 8 km towards Avalabetta, it appeared the road maintenance work was going on and should be complete in the next couple of months, if not weeks! Having said that, you would enjoy the natural landscape with all green vegetation on both the sides of the road with neem trees, tamarind trees and fields with rose, marigold flowers along with other vegetables.

When we passed by the areas, water ponds are seen around, most of them appeared man mad in order to cater their water needs and for animals. Finally, when we reached the base of the hill near the main entrance, decided to park the car and climb up by foot. We could go up the hill through car by taking a special permission from the forestry service department, instead, we had decided to trek up in order to breath fresh in nature for a couple of more minutes, away from the pollution of city life :)

We felt it was not a waste since the trekking path was good to walk, we had the choice of simply walking high on a tar road too. We took shortcut trekking steps in order to climb high. As we were moving up, we could see some nice flowers blossomed, shepherds with their herd of sheep grazing around, snake den(Burroughs) and so on.

Well, it was fascinating for my son to see the snake Burroughs since he never saw one in the city and was curious how many snakes must be inside it peeping thru the holes, watching him trek:) As we climbed about 1 km, reached the second parking area. If we had come through vehicles then this would have been the stopping point. By this time, we had already reached significantly high altitude from the base.

Climbed another 100+ steps up and reached to Sridhenugiri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple. We could click some nice pictures from this location with far reaching mountain ranges, water ponds on the base of the hill and the greeneries around.  As we were hanging around, it started raining and therefore, had to stay around the temple area for some more time before proceeding further to trek to the final picturesque point.

When the rain stopped, we continued our mission further and reached the top of the hill, but we couldn't really go close to the endpoint due to the restrictions by the forest guards. This place has multiple rocks with deep falling points that one needs to be extremely cautious about their own safety as there are no security gates(like how we have in Nandi hills). When we look down, the dangerous, yet an awesome view of nature is just amazing!. Currently, the visitors are not allowed to hang around the final picturesque point, i.e., arch rock since it has a dangerous crack. Well, even though that was a bit of disappointment, we had a sense of satisfaction for breathing in the nature of this scary valley.

If you are visiting this place, please note the following:
* If you are travelling with kids, beware of the locations and risky rocks as the hill has multiple points of steep fall.
* Beware of monkeys as they would snatch food, water bottle etc since hovering all over from the base of the hills to the top!
* There is no food or drinking water source on top of the hills, expect few street vendors selling some chats or water. Better you take them from your home.
* There is no sanitation facility either on the parking area or up the hill.
 * There are no good restaurants around. So if you want to break for lunch or snacks, look for the ones in NH only.
* The distance from the main entrance to the top is about 2km, so elderly people or people with the inability to walk may find it hard to reach its peak.

Below are some of the clicks of my travel for you. Happy travelling :)
